do as i say, not as i do

Everything in this picture is made up except for the fact that I was driving behind a policeman in a police car... and he was talking on a cell phone... while driving. And, I was singing when I saw it.

(It is illegal in California to talk (or text) on a cell phone while driving)

vb 2-month update

Original Visions
Europe/Greece: still haven't been
3 year vision

Natalie and I do have plans to go if we haven't been before we are 30, which we are now planning as a 30th birthday trip.

Hot Body: I think I've gained 2 lbs of non-muscle (aka fat)
2-6 month vision

CPA: haven't started studying
18 month vision

House: still renting
1+ year vision

Chinese baby: haven't adopted one
3+ years vision

New Visions
Fabric strip from the quilt that my mom started making for me approximately 6 years ago: She hasn't told me to take my strip down so I assume her's is still up on her vb.
before-I-die vision

Coldplay Tickets: concert doesn't happen until July
4-month vision

Toddler (that sort of looks like I did when I was little) positioned next to Asian girl symbolizing my desire to have twin girls: not pregnant
3+ year vision

Conclusion
This vision board is crap. None of my visions have happened.

Maybe I have to read the book for the visions to come true.

Or...I could actually work out more than twice a week, start studying, and save more for the house and Europe, etc.

I had hoped that by making this vb I would only have to do half (none) of the work I would have had to do had I not had a vb.

wishes do come true

I'll never forget the day the cat lady told me that she would prefer if I never came back again and had hoped that I was out of her life forever. It was last Friday. Friday the 13th. She told me over the phone, and as I was driving over to her place that afternoon I was wishing that she would lock me out so I would never have to breathe stale cat again. Unfortunately, she didn't. I never gave up hope that one day it could happen though.

Today when I drove up in front of the officw I noticed the door on the gate surrounding the office was closed. The door is never closed. My heart skipped a beat at what that might mean. I walked up and turned the knob. The door was locked. She locked me out.

back in the cat den: part deux

Some things the cat lady has told me this week:

"You can do your exam in the street until somebody lets you in."

"I thought you were out of my life forever."

"You are going to give me another stroke or heart attack, and I am going to die today in this chair."

"I would prefer if you never came back."

Note: I think I may be addicted to posting things on this blog. I apologize, but I will not stop....so maybe I don't apologize. Yeah, I take that apology back.

back in the cat den

As you may know from my dramatic facebook status, I have been working back in the cat den for a couple of days. Today it struck me that my phone has a camera. So, I captured the creature in its habitat.

I was going to take a picture of crazy cat lady, but I thought that would be inappropriate.

The pictures didn't quite speak for themselves, so I've added a couple helpful arrows so you will know where your attention should be directed.

I hope this gives you a clearer idea of how close this cat gets to me, how it mocks me when it is sleeping, and how i would burn alive if there was a fire.

beach cruising and (wannabe) waitress bruising

I've been living in San Diego now for over a year. Before I moved here I purchased a sweet beach cruiser and envisioned many hours would be spent on the beach riding my sweet ride around. As of last Friday, I had taken my bike out of storage once to ride around my neighborhood. See, we live up on a hill and there isn't really any direction to go but down and up again and then down again. That's not how I like to ride. I need flat surfaces.

Last weekend we finally decided to dust the bikes off and take them down for a proper ride at the beach. We were all set to go when, for reasons unknown, we decided to take a 3 hour nap instead. When we woke up the sun had just finished setting and it was too late.

On Saturday I was determined to do this. We made it out of the apartment and down to the storage shed...and realized both tires on Brent's bike were flat. No problem, we can take it down to the gas station and pump it up. Then we realized I lost some of the fasteners to keep both bikes on the bike rack. No problem, we just split up the ones that were left and it worked. We were finally on our way to a beach bike ride.

We went down to Mission Bay and set off. It was everything I wanted: relaxing, breezy but not too cold, invigorating, no crying babies, and fun. We rode along the beach and around the bay. I told Brent we should do it once a month. Not sure how realistic that is with our track record and penchant for naps, but we'll see.

Had we ended the day after the beach ride, this post would be completely free of talk of punching people in the face, but we decided to continue our fun times into the evening and head downtown to watch the UFC fights with some friends...

Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera. Fortunately, photoshop still works.

We were enjoying our night at a lovely irish pub with a lovely waitress and some really lovely ufc face punching and leg-to-the-throat knockouts when our waitress, princess slash (her name as it appeared on the receipt), informed us that she was heading out and cashing us out. Cool. No problem. She went on to tell us some girl was taking over and would be taking care of us. We found out that was not the case. This girl, princess hot pants (her name as I made it up), did not come over to our table once in what I estimate to be about 45 minutes. I asked her....okay I kind of yelled, "HEY, can we get some water?" She looked annoyed and pissed but said yes. She lied. She never came to refill our water. After waiting nearly 20 minutes and seeing her tend to other tables, I told her to forget it. Now, you may think I am not nice, but I swear princess slash actually told us that we were one of the most polite tables she's ever had. So, I know it wasn't us. I think she heard me call her hotpants and then decided she would never come over to serve us. I wanted to punch her in the face hard enough to make her seriously rethink her slutty outfit and her crappy service. Instead I glared at her and then we left.

Our night didn't end there. We went back to the mall to get our parking ticket validated. We were 30 minutes too late and the machines were turned off. We went up to the theater, which was still open, to see if they would let us use their validation machine. Some chubby little guy told me he would gladly let me use their machine if I just purchased a $4 bottle water or $4.50 bag of candy. Bastards. I continued to argue with him and then solicited a movie-goer for help. He couldn't have been less helpful if he tried. Then, chubby little guy told me that if the movie-goer helped me they would deny him entry into the theater. I then started arguing with him and his even more chubby manager about their policies, the mall's policies, and how ridiculous it all was. Had I been there 30 minutes earlier I could have used the machine in the mall for free. They were taking advantage of me and all the other people who waited too long to get their parking validated, and I was pissed. A good samaritan finally came up and told me I could just buy a theater gift certificate and validate my parking. I was reluctant to fork out money, but at least it will be more useful than a $4.5 bag of sour patch kids. I'm glad I hadn't been drinking more or I probably would have done something that I wouldn't regret, but it would have gotten me forcibly removed from the theater and mall premises...and I'm pretty sure Kasey and Steve would have never invited us anywhere ever again.

It was an eventful and fun evening... way better than staying in and taking a nap!
